1. This nomination is for a family of 5 (mom, dad, three kids). The kids are a boy who is 3 yrs 8 months and twin girls who are 22.5 months old. One of the twin girls has an anoxic brain injury, which means that her brain was deprived of oxygen and parts of her brain died. All of that happened when she was 11 months old and was eating a piece of fruit that she choked on. This is a regular working class family that been challenged in ways they never knew possible. They are raising money for treatments for their daughter but need so much more such as house improvements and well to just continue living since they have two other beautiful kids.
2. I know a family of 4,(mom,dad,2 boys age 4 an 20 months)they are about to lose their home,he was laid off last winter an the company never gave him the paperwork an he thought they were sending it into unemployment,an they didnt by the time he learned this 7 weeks had went by,thier were so many laid off that a lot of the men werent getting checks,so he called an found out it was too late, didnt matter whos fault it was,he only got 1 check,he finally found an job only to be laid off again, was off 3 weeks this time an the same thing, the paperwork was late coming in the mail an they had to resend it,he got 1 check this time,he called the state respesentives office an nothing they could do,they have had their lights cut off, they have no cable ,no internet, they did get food stamps an state insurance for the boys, but not them, they are now trying to get something paid on the house so they wont lose it,I know people shouldnt be ignorant but if you dont know ,the unemployment should give them a break,if youve never been laid off before you would assume that your employer would handle it,so he was done bad twice, they just need some help for the boys this holiday, they arent asking for themselves just the boys, shes working parttime an he has found another job but as anyone knows once you get so far behind it is hard to catch up,they dont have extras, they are lucky they have utilities, its been cut off several times, but keeping a roof over their heads is what they are working on now, they have food stamps now ,but anything else is out of the question, thanks for the consideration for this special family
3. My nomination is for a family who is really struggling this past year. They are a family of 6. They have 4 children, girl who is 11, boy who is 8, a girl who is 4, and a baby boy who just turned 1.
4. I nominate my family… I have five children, my oldest son is 20, three girls 12, 9, 7 and a 21month old. we are begining a fresh start. Our family just relocated to Arizona from Michigan in search of a better life and more job oppertunities. Having survived a nasty divorce and loosing our home to forclosure we are struggling to stay afloat. We sold everything to make the trip and are almost out of money. I believe God is with us and will provide. Every day I do everything possible searching for work and taking care of my precious children. All I can do is keep doing and trusting in the power of good. Thanks for caring.
5. I am nominating a family of 3. She has a 10 year old and a 15 year old boys. They have been struggling with many different issues. To start with her 10 year old son started breaking out in hives and for about 3 months no one could figure it out.Her 15 year old has had to go to a dr because he has a mole on his toe that they have removed and keeps coming back. They think it maybe skin cancer and are looking in to that as we speak. She also has been having many medical problems. She also is going thru a hard time with a divorce and is having to take care of all medical problems alone and having to take off work alot to do this. She need all the help she can get.
6. I am nominating a family of three. A single father household with two boys, 11 and 9 years old. It’s a struggle raising the boys and he’s barely managing. He’s a good father who is trying very hard to raise his boys to be good, outstanding young men.
7. I’d like to nominate a family of 5 – 2 disabled grandparents who are raising their 3 grand daughters. The grandmother was 1 of our school custodian until she had to quit due to health problems. She receives no support for “her’ girls because she doesn’t have legal custody even though her daughter is not involved. All 3 grand daughters have some form of physical and/or mental disability.
8. I’m nominating a family of 7. Both of their families are far away (his across the country, hers in another country). They’ve been struggling for awhile (5 kids is rough even at the best of times) but he recently got laid off of his second job and his first job had to cut his hours back to part time. They are mostly relying on her income. Their sons are 14 and 6. Their daughters are 13, 8, and turning 2 in December. Like with all poor and big families, no one ever has anything that’s new or just theirs. The kids are pretty good sports about it, and their parents have a seemingly endless well of patience and making it work.
9. I want to nominate my husband’s cousin. She lost her job while pregnant and her fiance’s hours were cut back. When she was 7 months pregnant, they were evicted. No one wanted to hire a pregnant woman who would just need to take leave soon, so she wasn’t able to find work. Their son was born last week. They have no support from their families. They’re really in desperate need of help.
10. I have a friend who is a mother of 4 yr old quadruplets(3g1b) and a 5 yr old boy. She has been in and out of the hospital all year, and currently unable to walk and on bedrest. Her husband lost his job last Christmas and found a new job this yr but with a huge paycut. They have not been able to pay their mortgage, so they put their house on the market. It has not sold so each month is getting harder. Between medical bills and trying to feed five children it has been impossible. I found out recently that they had gone several weeks without groceries. They have barely been surviving. They were unable to afford to get the kids birthday gifts or a party this yr, so they went without. These children deserve to have Christmas this year.
11. I’m nominating a family of 6, there is the Mom and Dad and then 4 kids ranging from 7months to 9yrs. (9yr old girl and the other 3 boys) Dad is in the Army and just got back last month from a long deployment to Iraq (he shipped out just after mom got pregnant with the youngest). This year has been though and hard on them and they dont know how to get Christmas this year and I think this would be great for them!
12. I am nominating my closest friend and her family. She had a brain tumor 3 & 1/2 years ago and has been left unable to work; and her husband has been in a coma for 4 going on 5 months. He had a heart infection which lead to his heart valve being replaced.after a week in the hospital he was discharged and the very next day(less then 12 hours)upon him returning home from the hospital he stroked out at home.He has been in a coma since then. She has a son who’s 6 and a daughter who is 3. They have no income coming in what so ever and just this week my friend went to the public aid office to fill out an application for food stamps. My husband and I help her and her family out as much as we can but we are going through bankruptcy ourselves. Please help my friend’s family this year.
13. I would like to nominate a family of 3. A mother father and 14 week old baby. (They have an older child that does not reside with them.) The 14 week old baby was born 8 weeks and 3 days early and is just now the size of a newborn. His father is a U.S. Marine and had to be brought back from over seas to help take care of him. The mother has been out of work for some time and they are having troubles making their bills let alone providing any kind of holiday for their child. The father works anywhere from 16-20 hours a day and drives an hour and a half to and from work one way. Their son is out of the hospital but still has special care needs, such as soy formula and soon physical therapy. Their friends are doing as much as they can to help but even in a military community their funds are limited and they can not help beyond baby sitting for free or making dinners for the family. They sacrafice everything for their family and friends and no matter what time of day or night if you need them they are there. They go with out so that their child can have just his basic needs. They are loving and caring and deserve to have someone do for them what they have donr for others. Their families are on the West Coast so they will be spending the holidays alone and possibly with nothing more than each other. Please help this childs’ first Christmas be nothing shy of memorable for the right reasons not because Mommy and Daddy could not do it for them even when going without.
